O uso do There To Be em inglês
O verbo There To Be é usado para indicar a existência de algo. Em português, equivale a expressões como “há”, “existe”, “tinha”, “havia”. Ele é muito comum em frases do dia a dia e aparece em diferentes tempos verbais.
📌 Estrutura no Presente
No presente, usamos there is (singular) e there are (plural):
- There is → há / existe (singular)
- There are → há / existem (plural)
Exemplos:
- There is a book on the table. → Há um livro na mesa.
- There is a cat in the garden. → Existe um gato no jardim.
- There are two cars in the garage. → Há dois carros na garagem.
- There are many students in the classroom. → Existem muitos alunos na sala de aula.
📌 Estrutura no Passado
No passado, usamos there was (singular) e there were (plural):
- There was → havia / existia (singular)
- There were → havia / existiam (plural)
Exemplos:
- There was a party last night. → Houve uma festa ontem à noite.
- There was a problem with the computer. → Havia um problema no computador.
- There were many people at the concert. → Havia muitas pessoas no show.
- There were three dogs in the park. → Existiam três cachorros no parque.

- Para o futuro, usamos There will be → “haverá”.
